Gorgeous Parrot Flower

Post  Lin H on Sun Jun 14, 2009 2:00 pm

It's not a parrot, but it looks like one (kinda... Wink ).

Got this in an email today with pictures of this beautiful flower.

Some people seem to think that it's a photoshop hoax, but it's not. If you "google" parrot flower, the first things that pop up are Snopes and a couple of other debunker sites confirming that the Parrot Flower is real.

Enjoy!

Never heard of them. Some look more like a parrot than others. Pretty flower.

How cool is that!!!! Never heard of or seen such a flower! That is just amazing how nature works and how a flower can mimic the look of a living creature. I know that some animals will mimic the look of another species, but I don't think I've ever heard of a flower mimicking the look of an animal. I wonder if there is a purpose to this that benefits the flower in some way...that's usually the way these things work.

Thanks for sharing this neat info Lin. Smile

Yours truly,
Brad

Thats a beautiful flower.
It kinda reminds me of a lady slipper orchid.
I wish we had some of those parrot flowers here.
I would love to take some pictures of them.
