    My Main Loft

Post  Lovebirds on Sun Mar 15, 2009 6:35 pm

I shot this video last summer and just never uploaded it to YouTube.......so, I uploaded it today. Sort of gives you an idea about how my loft is set up. It's kinda long, but I had actually video taped the big loft, the widowhood loft and the small one where Scooter and Dory live. This is the short version.

It's a lovely place you have for your pigeons, Renee. Aren't they lucky? But how can you be with 103 birds!!!! And all the suspense they create for you? Hm...perhaps you mean that you are tired? I hope you are not overdoing it. I am awed at the amount of work you girls are capable of. I would love to hear that you are taking the necessary rest Take care, Gladys

Oh Gladys, Gladys............I just love you....... Sparkly Smile .....even with 103 birds, there's only so much you can do. It has rained here for the past 3 days, so they weren't out of the loft. Once the loft is cleaned and they are fed and watered......well, that's about all you can do. I guess I COULD clean the loft again............but, I just do that once a day. There was no one here to chat with. PT is dead today. Nothing on TV. It's just been one of those days I guess...........and yes dear.....I get plenty of rest. In fact, I woke up at 5:00 this morning, thought about getting up, but said "what the heck".......rolled over and went back to sleep until 6:30. I don't usually do that, but I could hear the rain and I just stayed in the bed. Sleep

I remember commenting in PT when I first saw outside pictures taken of your loft and home, how absolutely beautiful everything is!

Your birds certainly live in the Taj Mahal of Pigeon Lofts!!

Those superb pigeons have beautfiul color combinations!

Everett is ONE TALENTED MAN and we send our KUDOS to him and his tremendous building skills!!

    Many thanks for the "Tour!"

Great loft Renee! Very Happy I wish you could send Everett my way to build my 'loft'. I wouldn't have to borrow him for long since it is really about the size of a garden shed and is already in panels. I'm sure it would only take him about an hour to construct!! Razz

If I could do that loft all over again, I'd do some things different.

I still would love to move in there. I know that I could be so content with the woods as a back drop, and Renee's birds and dogs. I would have those injured boxes full though. I'm sure I could find something to put in the hospital.

Years ago I saw Renee's pigeon palace on line. I thought that they must be the luckiest folks in the world. Renee, I am interested what you would do different. It is obvious that pigeon people designed this loft.

    This was my first tour.

The main thing that I would change is the individual breeding pens in the back. Those are NOT ideal. For one, the birds get NO sun while they're back there. Plus, they face the N/NW and when those north winds blow, it's just downright miserable back there, which in turn makes the whole loft colder than it would be otherwise. Each pen has it's own door that can be shut and shut out the wind, but the birds HATE being locked up in there and of course that means it's dark, so the lights have to stay on. I love the individual pens, but where they are located should have been different.
I don't know exactly how you could incorporate the single pens without making the loft about 16 feet longer than it already is. Beats me
