Picked this little guy up from the vet Tuesday. Had fallen from a tree during heavy rains that evening. Vet checked him out and said he was okay - just a baby. He is so tiny - nibbling a lot and whistling like all little wild baby doves do.

Maggie, What an adorable little bird. I have one too, but just a little older. He is the off-spring of one of my doves. They just stopped feeding him. So he is inside with me. I love the little noises they make.

Congratulations on the picture, and thank you so much for posting it. He is going to be a beautiful adult dove.

I seem to be unlucky as I never get to see the pics. Sad I always just get a small box with a red cross in it. I still haven't seen Bunnyboo's hedgie pic either. How frustrating...I'll keep checking though. Rolling Eyes

Brad, most baby doves are so scared around people that all you want to do is let them know they're safe. But, you also want them to stay "wild" without imprinting so you walk a fine line sometimes. I have taken in some babies that were tame to begin with - just seemed to accept us with no problem, wiggling all over and whistling and nibbling your fingers but the majority are very scared.

Wash my mouth out with soap Very Happy but baby doves really give baby pigeons a run for their money in the cuteness category. You have to watch them more if you have them on a counter to feed or just exercise because they're so hyper they will move so fast they'll fall off the counter. Our wildlife group even recommends you feed baby doves on the floor just because of that.

I have been moving him in the kitchen with the other birds so he can see he is not the only "prisoner" and he looks so cute sitting on his little perch watching everything. Not big as a minute. He has started pecking at seed but we will continue to hand feed for a bit longer. He takes the syringe really well and can take 12 cc easily at one feeding. We use a 3 cc syringe. Takes some time filling it so much but it is easier to feed the little guys with the smaller syringe.

Maggers, Mine is just starting to get his big boy feathers. No for reals he is starting to get the black ring around his neck. He has three thick black stubs growing in around his neck.

I'll bet he is adorable. There is just something so precious about a little dove. We had one that we named Mr. Dove (so original) and that was the sweetest boy that ever lived. Loved me like I was his mama. He had his own section in the bookcase that he would go to, get in a corner and call me to him. Being as little as I am, I could stick my whole head in there with him and smooch. I do love doves!!!!!!

For some mysterious reason now I can see the pic in full. The lovely thing, it looks so vulnerable and in need of help. I know doves shy away from people but I bet this little one will soon understand he is safe with Maggie and will show his gratittude in his own way.He is a lucky birdie. Gladys

What a cute little birdie! How nice of you to take it in. I would have no clue what to do if faced with a little baby something that needed help. No

For those of you who are having trouble seeing the pictures . . . maybe you should check your cookies or something. I really don't know what that means, but every time I have trouble with something online, people tell me to do something with my cookies. Delete them, change them, whatever. Makes me want to toss 'em . . . Beats me

Back on topic: I still lurve the baby dove. His picture makes me feel all warm and fuzzy! flower

Yeah, Bunny...I can relate about "cookies." First time I heard the term regarding computers, I thought the name so odd! Cookies are to EAT...geez!! I agree with you...toss 'em!! ROTFL

But, I guess one can tell their computer to eat its "cookies" ??? WHO thinks up these names anyway? Shocked

And, now there is TWEET?? Give me a break! Rolling Eyes

This little guy is doing so well. I'll put up more pictures of him tomorrow. He has decided he wants to be "family" and, try as hard as we can, he is literally eating us up. We put him on the floor and he comes running to you, little wings just aflapping, whistling like crazy and then starts nibbling on you.

Sometimes they are just super friendly no matter how hard you try to keep your distance.

Do think you will have a hard time releasing him, Maggie?? Remember Aussie Susan and Spoggie??

He is just so adorable! Sounds like he knows the hands that feed him!!

How do he and Vinnie get along??
