    Videos - Pet Skunks

Post  Brad on Mon Mar 23, 2009 4:36 am

    Hi Everyone,

Check out these cute and neat videos of people who have a skunk for a pet! Smile I remember reading about skunks making excellent pets while growing up and apparently they do, once they've had their scent glands removed and when they are born and raised in captivity. Skunks are part of the weasel family and are very intelligent and affectionate animals when raised from babies. Smile

    Love the videos.

I love skunks. Boy, good thing the scent glands are removed or else Grandma would've had a snootful the way that tail was raised and ready. LOL

We have skunks living under our shed in the yard. Sometimes I see them at night and throw them a little something to nibble on. People are usually very fearful of getting sprayed, but generally, the skunk has to feel very threatened before it will spray. When I used to camp, I've had them walk right up to me to receive a treat with no problems.

Yes, long claws for digging and I don't believe they shed like cats and dogs, but not positive and don't remember.

When I was young, we had a pet de-scented skunk and they do make nice pets. Unfortunately, he got out and lost one day. There was a small article in the paper that mentioned how a brave policeman had "captured" a skunk not far from us and took it to the woods to let it go!! We were devastated!!

Here are a couple more skunk videos though for everyone's amusement. First video is a skunk on a gigantic hamster wheel, hilarious

    Hi Brad...

To be honest, I really don't remember how long we had him. Spunky was his name. Also don't remember why we got him to begin with. This was in San Antonio, TX, circa 1948...I was around 10, give or take a few years...Friends of ours also had a skunk they named Rosie...

Many thanks for the new videos...just love skunks! Sounds like the the people in the second video are HOUSE fans too! Very Happy
