You can add bleach to the bath water, but I'm not 100% certain of the bleach ratio to water, but it's not very much. Permectrin II is another thing that can be used in water, but since you're in Ireland, I don't know where you would get it. Here's the link to this product:
There are lots of other products however that don't go in water but do get rid of lice and mites. Many pet stores sell sprays for lice and mites on birds too.
You can add borax to the bath water also. I think its 1 tablespoon per gallon of water.

How many birds you have? I use Ivermectin, not in water though. One drop on the base of the neck between shoulders and birds are free of any parasites in no time. Easy and cheap.
