    Say Hello to Solo

Post  EgypSwiftLady on Tue Nov 10, 2009 9:49 pm

Solo arrived last week from Michigan. She, I think she's a she, was living under the over hang on a guys house since May. She wasn't part of a flock but when the wild birds would collect at this mans feeder she would join them, but she would always fly back to sit under the eve of the house.
The fellow had been trying to find someone since May to take her but with winter coming time was running out and thats when we were asked to give her a home. Not only was the man worried about her freezing to death but the area had resident hawks & owls.
Solo has a colored band, so she most likely was a homer who got lost. She's not afraid of us as long as we don't reach for her.
    Hope you like meeting her.

Solo is a beauty Robin! Very Happy Thanks for introducing her to us. I'm so happy that she now has a safe place with you to be pampered and well cared for. cheers It was very good of the person who was feeding her to look out for her and be concerned with her welfare over the colder months. Do keep us updated with Solo's progress. Very Happy

Solo is a nice looking pigeon. Did you try to identify the owner by the band number? It was probably a young bird lost in an early training flight. I don't imagine that the owner would want the bird back at this stage, unless he/she was looking to develope a particularly good looking flying team.

Thanks everyone for welcoming Solo & the kind words.

George thank you so much for telling me her correct color, I had no idea , we keep information folders on each pigeon and knowing her color will be very helpful to us.

Hugh the band she wears is only a colored plastic one, no numbers or name. I know that the man who rescued her was hoping for some contact info on it so she could go back to her owners.

Shi at this time we don't have any extra males so Solo will have to be happy with female companions... at least for awhile.

Hi Robin, good to see you around. Solo is outstanding with her indigo colouring . Funny how she never tried to join the flock but preferred to keep to herself. I like to see people who can and enjoy living alone. They are blessed with enough "interior life", so why not birds.? Nonetheless I'm glad you were able to bring her in and don't doubt she will be happy with you away from the hawks and intense cold weather. Do let us know how she gets along. Many thanks for telling us about her. Gladys

    Up date on Solo

Post  EgypSwiftLady on Mon Jan 18, 2010 10:42 am

I stopped in to cruise the recent posts and saw this one...
Solo is doing great, adjusting to the flock in that loft, she's still a bit on the fringe not having found a mate yet, but not getting pick on either.
I'm hoping that a couple of handicapped males will need a home this summer and maybe then she will pick a mate.
    Thanks for asking Brad.
