Love white pigeons, Do they stand out making easy targets for hawks?
Do birds of prey see in color?

Welcome to the forum nyboy!
Yes, unfortunately white birds make an easy target for hawks. Birds have a very keen sense of colour and this aids them very much in their pursuit of mating partners and when catching prey.

A white bird would not stand out in a flock of white birds but a bluebar or checker would. The falcon would go for the ''odd'' bird in the flock as it would be easier to keep track of in the chase. A hawk is more of an ambush hunter and would be more likely to take the bird near the ground and the white bird would stand out more against the earthy background.

ALL birds see in colour.
Birds have some of the best visual abilities in all of nature.
