Hi guys me again, glad to say all is now going well with breeding with the exception of one pair.

I think the hen is mating for the first time, not sure of her age. She refuses to lay her eggs in the next box, and I have tried locking in the nest box, but being a small tumbler she gets out! She has laid one egg right by the loft door, then after two days lost interest in it, probably due to us going in and out.

Now she has laid the second egg in the same place, but does not seem to know what to do with it? Any suggestions? The cock bird who the breeder tells me has been a good dad in the past, seems very confused by her behaviour, what should i do? Thanks any help would be appreciated.

I really want this cock and hen to succeed because of the colour match

lock her in the nesting box so she cant get out, give her food water everything to make her comfortable, when she lays the eggs dont disturb her, keep her locked up, dont let her out. The same thing happened when i bought some of my birds from a guy, a pair had eggs and she layed them, abandoned them and did this 3 times before she started to breed normallly, just give her some time to get settled in the coop.
