I received this PM from a guest and have no idea what to suggest, hopefully someone can suggest something and perhaps the guest can sign up and join the discussion.

Gosh that's a hard one TeenyTinyTuna and I have never heard of a cream spray and if these are their pet pigeons then don't let them out in the wild for them to be taken away. Maybe there are certain times that she could let them out when the prey birds are not around and unless she builds them a fly pen I can't see no answer to solve this problem...How tragic that would be to see happen and many of our racing friends have direct experience with this--Can't give you anything other than this sad post and maybe other people will have ideas--what is a cream spray???

Thanks Bella for posting this person's question. I have just received the same pm and have nothing to suggest other than there is no spray/cream to keep their birds safe from predators and that they should not continue letting them out if this keeps happening.

I don't let my birds out so I have no experience in training methods to advise.

I can not even reply to that pm as it's from an unregistered member, but I sure hope he sees this thread and gets his answers.

I found it necessary to keep my pigeons locked up all winter to avoid the carnage caused by hawks. Now that spring is here and the migratory song birds have arrived back, the migratory hawks moved north, and the large loss of last year's young hawks due to a hard winter and their inexperience in hunting, I am letting the pigeons out again. Where this individual is located and the type of pigeons he is keeping will define the options he/she has. The only foolproof way I know of is to keep the pigeons in lockdown.

The only spray I know of and it is used if a bird has been injured and survived an attack by a hawk.It's called Trypzyme-v ,it assists healing and it helps clean debris from the wound.

I've just sent this guest an email to advise keeping his or her pigeons locked up for now. I have also encouraged them to register with the forum so that we can try to help them with their situation.

Thanks everyone for helping this person and for offering suggestions. I never received an email about this myself actually, so it would appear that this person chose to contact specific people who they felt could help them most.

Language barriers and customs/product availability can make things difficult though.
