[img][/img]I remember my very first sight of Miss Pretty and she was outside on the ground to get at the wild bird water dish and 3 or four pigeons were pecking at her to chase her away but what Miss Pretty did was to jump right in the middle of the concrete container and drank so frantically to get water and the three or four pigeons just watched her and let her drink and it was like they knew she needed that drink and now I found out she is definitely a "Ring Neck Dove" who is domesticated and such a treasure to have life bring her to me..I am attached...and I do believe she is too.Miss Pretty

Her wonderful tail and ring on her neck is growing back for all to see but the underneath part of the darker wings is all chewed up and that cat came so close to killing her--one lucky little dove..

Glad to hear Miss Pretty is doing good!

Nice pictures Chert! Everyday when I let my birds out to loft fly for the last 3 or 4 months there have been a pair of doves hanging around with them. They are getting rather tame now. One even walked over the top of my shoe the other day while I was sitting there. I get a real buzz watching them and look for them to show up everyday now. I also have a cottontail who is getting rather tame. I find all forms of wildlife amazing.

Re: Miss Pretty
That was a real nice post sharing that story and I love all wildlife as well. It is amazing some of the things that you can percieve if you just take the time to look once in awhile when you have a quiet moment. This Dove is a domestic dove and most likely owned by someone and just happened to come into my yard and it most likely just followed the wild pigeons to my yard to drink. It was in need of help and I trapped it in my loft by food for it was very very hungry. I really thought it was a Mourning Dove and would have released it in the Spring when its tail feathers grew back some for it was chewed by an animal and I think it was a cat. No puncture marks or blood contact just lots of different area of feathers pulled out especially around the vent and neck and it made a lucky escape somehow...Brad said it looked like a Ring Neck Dove and thats what it is alright and there are some colonies in the wild but not in this area and we really have a winter season coming so now it is my pet and I am really enjoying it and I think it is beginning to like me as well---these things take time....

She's beautiful and sweet c.hert!
I'm glad you found her and she's lucky you did!
She's actually no more messy than my two pigeons!
