I'd advise going bigger than you'd expect. The Red Rose Starter loft is 4X8 and fairly easy to put together.

My loft is 10x8 for 11 piges.I could have alot more if I wanted to.
In the spring I would like to get a pair of rollers.

The general rule of thumb is 2 sq ft per bird. But it also depends on what breed you have, and whether or not you 'free fly' them. Fantails prefer more 'ground space' than perches. Carneau's take up more space because of their size. So it's always better to go larger than what you need, so their not overcrowded.

Heck go all the way and make it 16 feet by 16 feet and if you feel richer make it 16 by 24 and these are nice numbers and it would be so much easier to clean..

Don't listen to c.hert .. at 16 x 24 you will have to provide maid and housekeeping services for your flock

Why they will love every minute of their wonderful loft and all the pigeons would be worry free....don't listen to that "old maniac" for he is just learning about chickens.... If your a builder the BIGGER the BETTER.....
