Hello,
I was able to contact someone about 2 weeks ago about adopting a indian fantail pigeon and my new baby was shipped last week.
Very healthy, female, about 8 weeks old, still sqeaking, and VERY tame! Got her from a sweet lady in Georgia and very very fortunate to have this pidgie. Have to get a digital camera on how to describe her color, but she appears to be either an indigo pied, or "sooty pied", as her base color is black, but appears to have a brown/grey rimming to her feathers, and the 1st 4 flight feathers are white, and she has some white on her feathered feet.
Anyway, have the FUNNIEST story to tell about her and my cat Vince, a year old black rescue, declawed character. By the way, my new pigeon's name is P.J.
Anyway, Vince is jealous of all the attention P.J. is getting... I have been keeping P.J. indoors b/c the weather is cool at night and she stays in a small pet carrier when not on my bookcase which is her favorite perch.
The other night, my husband and I put P.J. up in her crate and headed out to the movies.
When we came back, 3 hrs later, we could not find Vince, our black cat.... I was worried that he had gotten outside our apartment... So I looked, called and looked for about 10 minutes. Then a strange thought came across my mind.............. and I looked in P.J.'s carrier/crate and guess who was in there with her? VINCE!
Anyway, he must have snuck in the pet carrier and was in there with P.J. all along, for about 3 hrs.
He did not harm a feather on that bird, which is remarkable, but Vince is a total inside cat and has not been exposed that much. I was lucky though, and still have to keep an eye on him, cuz he wants to play with P.J.
Oh anyway, long-winded story but one that us animal lovers will appreciate.
Hope to get a picture of P.J. soon, my husband adores her..
Camille
