I want to tell about my new, very sweet and tame pigeon!

    Hello,

I was able to contact someone about 2 weeks ago about adopting a indian fantail pigeon and my new baby was shipped last week.

Very healthy, female, about 8 weeks old, still sqeaking, and VERY tame! Got her from a sweet lady in Georgia and very very fortunate to have this pidgie. Have to get a digital camera on how to describe her color, but she appears to be either an indigo pied, or "sooty pied", as her base color is black, but appears to have a brown/grey rimming to her feathers, and the 1st 4 flight feathers are white, and she has some white on her feathered feet.

Anyway, have the FUNNIEST story to tell about her and my cat Vince, a year old black rescue, declawed character. By the way, my new pigeon's name is P.J.

Anyway, Vince is jealous of all the attention P.J. is getting... I have been keeping P.J. indoors b/c the weather is cool at night and she stays in a small pet carrier when not on my bookcase which is her favorite perch.

The other night, my husband and I put P.J. up in her crate and headed out to the movies.
When we came back, 3 hrs later, we could not find Vince, our black cat.... I was worried that he had gotten outside our apartment... So I looked, called and looked for about 10 minutes. Then a strange thought came across my mind.............. and I looked in P.J.'s carrier/crate and guess who was in there with her? VINCE!

Anyway, he must have snuck in the pet carrier and was in there with P.J. all along, for about 3 hrs.
He did not harm a feather on that bird, which is remarkable, but Vince is a total inside cat and has not been exposed that much. I was lucky though, and still have to keep an eye on him, cuz he wants to play with P.J.

Oh anyway, long-winded story but one that us animal lovers will appreciate.

Hope to get a picture of P.J. soon, my husband adores her..

    Camille

    Hi Camille...

Congratulation on your new addition to the family!!!! I'm very happy for you and it sounds like P.J. is a wonderful & beautiful young lady, perfect for you! . Very Happy Keep talking to her, petting her gently and in general, interacting with her constantly. This will create a bond between you and her that will last a lifetime. Please do post some pictures of your new baby when you can and if you need help to do this, just let me know. Smile

Your story about Vince was very funny, lol. I'm sure your cat found the carrier to be very comfortable and private which is why he crawled in there to begin with. Wink Razz Glad to hear he's declawed and not minding the new member of the family too much. Smile

Thanks for sharing your news and story with us. sunny

CONGRATULATIONS GETTING SUCH A LOVELY BIRD IN P.J. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE PICTURES EITHER!! cheers

I can certainly relate to cats and birds! Squeaks grew up with FOUR cats. Now there are two left and they all do just fine!

Vince sounds like a real love...will look forward to seeing pictures of him too!! Sometimes, cats find out that those pijie beaks are sharp! I bet Vince and P.J. will be buddies!

I had a cat who wanted to play with Squeaks but he would have none of it! She finally gave up!

    Do keep us updated!
