Video - Slow motion of a wild pigeon in flight

Post  Brad on Tue Dec 23, 2008 4:27 am

Just an amateurs' quick clip of a feral pigeon in flight...very good though and it's pretty good quality. It's neat to see how the birds fly using slow motion video capture.

It's amazing they don't get tired from all that. Nice video. I took one of my Maggie building a "nest". She'd spend so much time testing each string I gave her before putting it in her nest. She'd test it by twirling it around in her beak and in doing that, she'd tickle herself when she hit herself so she'd have to stop and scratch. It's just so hilarious to watch her!

Garye, how nice to see you here!! If I remember rightly you (like me) take care of feral pigeons only you do it at an important scale. I also remember your posts about your pigeon Maggie. Could you send the video where she is studying the twigs for her nest? I know everybody here would love to see it.
Again a hearty welcome to our bunch. How about updating us on yourself. Best wishes
    Gladys

    Well, will WONDERS never cease!!

HEY, GARYE!! So GREAT to see you posting!!

AND, Squeaks' beak dropped an inch!! He is delighted too and sends heartfelt greetings to the lovely Maggie!

Due to Gimie's bad leg, he doesn't do nest material duty...he leaves that up to WoeBeGone, who doesn't mind at all and is most enthusiastic. I can't give her the fine shredded strips that Squeaks gets because somehow they get stuck in her beak. Sooo, she gets larger heavier paper strips. While Gimie is nest sitting, Woe will jump down out of their home, grap a piece, fly back up, give to Gimie, and repeat until all the strips I put down are gone. And, we're talking over 10 of them at a time! Back and forth, back and forth...I get tired just watching her! Rolling Eyes

When I break down and buy a digital camera, that's the first thing I'm gonna take!

I've got to figure out how to get my video of Maggie out there. She takes so much time in building her nest - one by one, string by string.
Well you can tell Mr. Squeaks it was Maggie's idea for me to try and rejoin. She was curious to see what Mr. Squeaks was up to on this forum. (You know how women are, always checking up on their men.)
    So we're here!

Guess I answered my own question from another thread and that IS Maggie as your Avatar. Of course, IF I had listened to MR. Squeaks... Rolling Eyes

Squeaks says to tell Maggie that he is always a gentleman! 'Course, he also thinks the lovely Sophie (Bill/nbdyuknow) is quite the charmer but they are just friends. The lovely Sophie is so besotted with her "mate," Bill, that she barely acknowledges the handsome male pijies!

Squeaks thinks that Maggie is as witty and smart as she is beautiful! sunny redfaced Wink

Anyway, we are soooo glad you are back... cheers Woo Hoo YESS!

No, my avatar is of my Garye. Maggie isn't ready to have her pic "out there". She wants to lose some wieght before having a pic out there for all the world to see.

"Just put Garye's pic out there, not mine. She isn't here any more so she won't care." - Maggie.

Maybe one day... she'll let me put out hers.

Yes, Garye was such a wonderful pij! We know you still miss her.

Squeaks says he has "joined that club!" Although, in mate mode he tends drop the "inches" running after his mate, me! Right now, he's in daddy mode. He has to stay in the living room in the mornings so the other guys can get their exercise in the bedroom. He and Dom don't see eye to eye! And, Squeaks will be glad when that little squeaker upstart, JoJoe, can be released! Says it's getting too crowded!

Squeaks says that whenever Maggie is ready to "show herself," he would be delighted! sunny Flying Weeeeee

Meanwhile, do keep us updated and all postings are welcomed!
