    March of the penguins

I know most of you folks have seen this movie before, but if you haven't...you really should watch it or even again. It's on TV right now and it's just an incredible story. I saw it once before and since it's on again I'm watching it again. It's such a wonderful movie, sad, amazing and just a truly remarkable story about these incredible birds. Smile

I love penguins and would like to see this....but I get really upset when watching bad stuff like predation on wildlife documentaries and movies. It sounds like this might be the case going by Shi's post. I was watching some of the 'The life of birds' series earlier this evening which was really interesting and entertaining, but I can never fully relax watching programs like this for fear of watching something bad happen. Jude had to warn me that I might not want to watch the next programme as it was about bird predators and knew that there were clips of pigeons being attacked by hawks....needless to say, I didn't even stay to finish watching the previous episode. I know that it is nature, but I have always struggled to sit and watch it on tv.

I have seen the Pigeon Genius documentary and loved it Ed!

I'm with you Lindi...........even though we know that it's natures way.......doesn't make it any easier to watch. I simply can't watch the wildlife shows predators taking their prey. I know they HAVE to, to survive, but I don't HAVE to watch it. Sad
March of the Penquins is a wonderful movie, but there are scenes in it that are hard to watch, even though you know that what's taking place happens frequently............I did watch it once, but don't know that I would watch it again.

Lindi and Renee - I feel exactly the same way the two of you do.

I did see March of the Penguins and it is an amazing story of what these birds go through. Of course, there are some parts in it that break your heart. I, too, know that this is nature's way, but I have a hard time looking at it sometimes.

It really is a marvelous movie.....very beautiful and moving.

Yes, Lindi, you are correct. I have a very hard time watching anything detrimental happening to animals! I get extremely emotional and have a hard time eliminating some scenes from my "mind picture!"

What is also very strange is that when I attend a cat show, it takes me about an hour to "calm" down. I become very tearful for awhile! Asked a good friend of mine, who tends to know about thngs like this, and she said I was "sensitive to 'vibrations'." Since they also have cats up for adoption, that could be very true. I just want to take them ALL home!

    Hi Lindi and gang,

I don't like to see nature's "brutality" either, but I can watch it most times and unless it's completely gory and harsh scenes. I think March of the Penguins did a really good job of not showing anything really awful and those scenes were kept to a minimum. There were only two scenes of predation and only one ended in death. Even so, it was a very emotional movie and just because of the incredible odds and harshness of climate the birds have to endure. I think it's a movie everyone should see because it really humbles you to see how easy we humans have it.
